Police have some video evidence following an early-morning shooting on the West Mall that sent one man to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses say two cars came racing into a parking lot around 1 a.m. Friday, with police receiving a call at 1:11 a.m. A security camera captures the start of the encounter, but police wouldn't release any other images.

Police say the victim got involved in an altercation with a group of five men in a four-door Honda Accord. One of those individuals allegedly produced a handgun, chased and shot the victim.

One could follow the man's trail and see blood drops on the snow.

CTV Toronto reported that police found the victim in a car at at 475 The West Mall. His friends were attempting to take him to hospital following the shooting.

An ambulance transported the victim to hospital. His injuries are described as serious but not life-threatening.

Several residents say they were woken up by the shots, with people saying they heard three or four, but some reports indicated up to 10 shots were fired.

Police describe one suspect as black, with a medium build, wearing faded blue jeans and a black, waist-length jacket with an unknown logo on the back.

A second suspect was said to be black, wearing a black toque with a hooded jacket.
