There is some good news for drivers who use the often congested Gardiner Expressway.
The westbound lanes between Exhibition Place and Grand Magazine Street have been reopened earlier than expected, after construction work originally scheduled to be completed in June was completed sooner.
Due to an accelerated schedule, the contractor was able to wrap up early, according to Steve Johnston with the City of Toronto.
It is also expected that the third eastbound lane of the roadway will reopen within the next week.
However, from Monday to Friday, between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., the city will be reinstituting a regular closure of the ramp from westbound Lakeshore Blvd. to the Gardiner Expressway at Jameson Avenue.
The Jameson ramp is usually closed during the afternoon weekday rush hours because it improves traffic congestion and safety along the Gardiner Expressway, according to a City of Toronto release.
