Suspect fled after being arrested following assault in North York: police

Police are searching for a male suspect who fled after being arrested following an assault in North York.

The incident happened on Dec. 15 near York Mills Road and Yonge Street.

Toronto police said they attended that area shortly before 6 p.m. for reports of a person with a knife.

According to investigators, a male and another person got into a dispute after exiting a subway station on Yonge Street. They said that the male assaulted other individual.

Officers attended and investigated both parties.

The male suspect then fled police custody after being arrested, they said.

He is described as about 20-year-old with black curly hair, and was last seen wearing a black puffy jacket with a white “North Face” logo on the rear right shoulder, a red hoodie, a black neck warmer, black and white checkered pyjama pants, and white sneakers.

Toronto police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with in-car camera footage to contact them at 416-808-3200 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
