Two people seriously injured in apparent 'road rage' collision in Toronto: police

Share

Police say that they are investigating an apparent road rage incident in North York that may have involved gunfire.

It happened at around 10:45 a.m. near Yonge Street and Empress Avenue, which is just north of Mel Lastman Square.

Police tell CP24 that one vehicle appears to have run another vehicle off the road, causing it to roll over.

Police say that there are also reports that shots may have been fired from the suspect vehicle, however that detail has not yet been confirmed.

Footage from the scene shows a Kia Sportage on its roof across from Mel Lastman Square. The vehicle appears to have significant damage to its side and front-end.

A dump truck is also visible behind the police tape. Police say that vehicle was involved in the collision but not the road rage incident that investigators believe preceded it.

Police say that a man and a woman sustained serious injuries in the rollover collision and were taken to hospital for treatment.

There is a second scene about 1.5 kilometres away on Finch Avenue near Yonge Street that is believed to be related to the investigation, however police have not yet provided further details about how it may be connected.

Police are investigating and are asking members of the public to be on the lookout for a black pickup truck with front-end damage that was last seen headed southbound along Yonge Street.

Finch Avenue is closed from Yonge Street to Kenneth Avenue and Yonge Street is closed from Empress to Elmwood avenues due to the police investigations.
