An 82-year-old man and a 53-year-old woman were pronounced dead after they were pulled from a Scarborough pool Friday night.

The victims were pulled from the swimming pool around 8:45 p.m., police said. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident occurred at a home on Shoreview Drive near Morningside and Lawrence Avenues.

First responders attempted to resuscitate the victims for several minutes but were unsuccessful, according to police.

According to neighbours, the man was a tenant of the home and the woman was his companion.

Area resident Pamela Khan said the couple were kind and quiet neighbours.

“They would say ‘hello,’ Khan said. “They were a very quiet people.”

Police do not suspect foul play.

Officers say they will continue to guard the scene until autopsy results are known.
