A third person has died as a result of a three-alarm blaze that gutted a Toronto apartment last week.

Natalie Burgher, 25,  died in hospital days after she was caught in the fire on March 24, police said Tuesday. Burgher leaves behind a one-year-old son.

A fourth victim, a 43-year-old woman, is still in hospital recovering from injuries sustained during the blaze.

The fire claimed 22-year-old Schanelle Brown and her three-year-old son Jahshy. The woman was eight months pregnant with a daughter she planned to name Shilah Angel.

A trust fund was set up by the Brown family to help with the funeral costs. The trust fund is in Schanelle Brown's name at TD Canada Trust.

The Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the fire which broke out on the ninth floor of an apartment building on Weston Road, just south of Highway 401.

Fire officials want to know why the people inside the apartment were not able to flee and if the smoke alarm in the apartment was in working order.

They also want to learn more about a report of a woman who came to the door, but didn't make it out.

"There are definitely aspects of this fire that cause us to be suspicious," Wayne Romaine, of the Ontario Fire Marshal's Office, told reporters last week.

"The activities of one of the occupants coming to the door, when we know from eye witnesses that there were fire conditions ongoing within the apartment, definitely have concern to us," he added.

But investigators say nothing has been revealed that would suggest that the people who were caught in the fire were victims of foul play.
