A 17-year-old was taken to hospital after a stabbing in a park near a Brampton middle school.

Peel Paramedic Services responded to a call at 12:43 a.m. Thursday morning from Batsman Park near Lougheed Middle School at the intersection of Bramalea Road and Father Tobin Road.

According to emergency responders, a 17-year-old man was taken to Brampton Civic Hospital after suffering a single stab wound. He is in stable condition.

Carla Pereira, spokeswoman for the Peel District School Board, says the victim is not a student at Lougheed Middle School.
