Toronto Police have identified a 17-year-old boy as the victim of an early-morning shooting at an Etobicoke apartment complex.

Police responded to a call of a shooting at a building on Willowridge Road at about 2 a.m. on Saturday.

Police found a boy suffering from apparent gunshot wounds and he was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Trevor Seraphine, 17, was pronounced dead in hospital, police said.

Paramedics said the victim was shot multiple times in the torso.

Sharon Settino, a resident of the apartment complex since 2001, said she heard five gunshots coming from outside of the building just before 2 a.m.

"I couldn't sleep. I haven't slept all night. I can't sleep now. I'm just so worried about it because this person is out on the loose with this gun and it's just horrible," she said. "It was really scary."

Settino said she saw four individuals running from the scene where Seraphine's body was discovered and informed police.

Romeo Choumkui, another resident of the building, said he is worried for his safety.

"Of course, when you hear something like that the first reaction is being afraid," he said. "It's not easy to live somewhere it's not secure. That's why."
