Suspects at-large following jewelry store robbery, related hit-and-run at Toronto's Fairview Mall: police
Police are searching for four masked suspects after a smash-and-grab style robbery at a jewelry store in Toronto’s Fairview Mall.
Toronto Police Service said they were called to the shopping centre near Sheppard Avenue and Don Mills Road in North York at around 1:20 p.m.
They said an unknown quantity of property was stolen and that the suspects fled the scene in a vehicle.
Moments later, police received a second call for reports of a hit-and-run collision outside Fairview Mall that is now believed to be linked to the robbery.
Investigators said one of the two vehicles involved in the crash hit a pole, while the other fled the scene.
The driver in the vehicle that hit the pole was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Currently, Fairview Mall Drive is closed in both directions as police investigate.
The robbery marks the latest in a series of smash-and-grab style incidents targeting GTA jewelry stores.
Earlier this month, Toronto police told CP24 that so far in 2024, there had been 43 jewelry store robberies reported to police, compared to just 21 last year.
The investigation into this latest robbery and hit-and-run is ongoing, and police say they don’t have any further updates at this time.
