One man has been charged after a group of armed bandits robbed a suspected illegal gaming house in the city's downtown core on Monday.

Police say five disguised suspects armed with a shotgun, handgun and two knives, busted into the residence located on Huron Street near Bloor Street West and Spadina Avenue at 2 a.m.

Authorities arrived on the scene as the suspects were leaving the residence.

Police pursued the men on foot. One suspect was arrested and police confiscated a sawed-off shotgun and a knife.

Investigators are requesting the public's assistance in locating the remaining four suspects who fled the scene.

Three of the suspects are described as Asian males in their early 20s. The fourth suspect is described as being a brown-skinned male, also in his early 20s.

Toronto resident Jonathan Campos, 18, has been charged with:

  • six counts of robbery while armed with a firearm;
  • disguise and intent;
  • unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon;
  • two counts of weapons dangerous

Campos is scheduled to appear in Old City Hall court on Monday.
