Two shootings at the same west-end building in Toronto earlier this week are believed to be connected.
In a statement released Thursday afternoon, Toronto Police Service said the shootings at 2063 Islington Ave. on March 17 are believed to be connected.
The first shooting happened shortly after 3:15 p.m. and the victim, 21-year-old Ahmed Siyad, was found at the scene with gunshot wounds. Police previously said that shell casings were found in the stairwell of the building.
Siyad was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Hours later, as investigators were clearing the scene, police were again called to the same building at approximately 8:15 p.m. Another male victim, who has since been identified as 22-year-old Malcom Marfo, was found at the scene. Police previously said Marfo was shot multiple times.
He was transported to hospital in life-threatening condition, where he was later pronounced dead.
Police have not released any suspect information for both shootings.
