A Walk of Fame induction and a marathon mean drivers heading downtown may need to plan alternate routes.

Events closures

Front Street will be fully closed from Yonge Street to Scott Street for the 16th annual Canada's Walk of Fame red carpet and star unveiling happening Saturday afternoon. Scott will be closed between Wellington Street and the Esplanade. The streets will reopen on Saturday night.

The Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon takes place on Sunday, but the following roads will close at noon on Saturday and remin cloed until 7 p.m. on Sunday:

  • Bay Street, between Queen Street and Dundas Street
  • Hagerman Street, from Bay to Elizabeth Street.
  • Elizabeth, from Hagerman to Dundas
  • Albert Street from Bay to the Old City Hall Court House
  • James Street, from Queen to Albert

The following roads will be closed Sunday only, from 4 a.m. to 11 a.m.:

  • University Avenue, from Dundas to Front Street
  • Armoury Street, from University to Chestnut Street
  • Chestnut, from the Metropolitan Hotel to Armoury

Lake Shore Boulevard will be closed between Windermere Avenue and Parliament Street on Sunday, from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Other Lake Shore Boulevard closures

The westbound passing lane will be occupied from Rees Street to Van De Water Crescent by tunnel construction from 9 a.m. to midnight every day until the end of February 2015.

Two westbound lanes will be closed between Lower Jarvis and York Streets from 11 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. due to repairs on the Gardiner above, every day until Nov. 5.

An eastbound lane will be occupied by a crew inspecting the Gardiner from Spadina Avenue to York Street, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily until the end of October.

Major road closures

The TTC and the City of Toronto have started long-term track, water main and road work on Bathurst Street, at Wolseley Street and Dundas St. West. Full details of the closure are available here.

Gardiner Expressway closures

The Yonge/Bay/York off-ramp will be closed every day from 11:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. until Friday, Oct. 24 for Gardiner repairs.

TTC closures and diversions

There will be no service on the Yonge-University-Spadina subway line between Bloor and Eglinton Stations on Saturday and Sunday, as TTC staff repair signal lights and tracks.

Frequent shuttle buses will be operating above ground, and TTC staff will be on-hand to help customers. Davisville, St. Clair and Rosedale Stations will be open, but Summerhill Station will be closed.
