TORONTO - A relatively rare October smog advisory has been issued for parts of southern Ontario.

The Environment Ministry says air quality is forecast to be poor in an area stretching from Windsor to northern sections of the Toronto area.

Officials suggest limiting use of vehicles and other gas-powered devices, and avoiding strenuous exercise during the warmest part of the day.

Sunshine and record high temperatures approaching 30 degrees Celsius are forecast for the affected region right through the upcoming Thanksgiving weekend.
