Police are trying to get in touch with anyone who may have been in recent contact with a 60-year-old woman found beaten to death in a North York apartment.

Linda Thomas' lifeless body was discovered Thursday with obvious signs of trauma at an apartment on Hollywood Avenue, near Yonge Street and Sheppard Avenue.

A post-mortem has confirmed the cause of death was blunt-force trauma.

Speaking at a Saturday news conference, investigators told reporters that they believe Thomas wasn't randomly targeted by her assailant.

Police said they've received reports indicating that Thomas, who lived on the second-floor, sometimes behaved "verbally aggressively" with fellow tenants.

However, investigators said they've had "no issues" with Thomas and her apartment before.

Police are looking to speak with anyone who may have been in contact with Thomas since the beginning of the month. Those who may know the woman's family have also been encouraged to come forward.

While biographical information about Thomas is sparse at the moment, authorities say she may have a sister in the city and a daughter living in Vancouver. Investigators have yet to confirm these reports.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Terry Browne at 416-808-7400. Anonymous tips came be left with Crime Stoppers at 416-222- 8477 or online at www.222tips.com.
