A cyclist has died after an apparent hit-and-run Friday morning, and police are searching for a red-coloured van in connection with the incident.

The incident occurred at the corner of Davenport Road and Lansdowne Avenue shortly before 7 a.m.

Toronto EMS told CP24 that the cyclist was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after the accident. The 35-year-old man has since died.

Toronto police are now looking for either a red or burgundy van with damage to its front end. They say the vehicle is believed to be a Chrysler model from 1996 to 2000.

The intersection was closed for about five hours, as police investigated. It has since reopened.
