Police are scouring the city’s west end and reviewing surveillance video after two separate shootings in the area left one man dead and two others injured.

Police identified the man shot and killed in the Weston Road and Eglinton Avenue West area on Tuesday afternoon as 26-year-old Leonard Charles Fullerton, of Toronto.

Investigators say Fullerton and the shooting suspect were arguing when the suspect fired several shots at approximately 4:20 p.m.

Fullerton suffered a gunshot wound to his head and later died of his injuries in hospital.

Meanwhile, police continue to search for the shooting suspect, who witnesses say fled east on Denarda Street on foot before entering a small, silver, four-door car.

The suspect is described as a black male with a lighter complexion, six-feet tall with a thin build and wearing dark clothing.

Police warn that the suspect is armed and dangerous.

Following the shooting, a nearby daycare centre – the Trimbee Infant Resource Centre – was locked down. The lockdown was lifted at 6 p.m.

Fullerton is Toronto’s 47th homicide victim of 2012, and the fourth in a three-day span.

Later Tuesday, Toronto police responded to two shootings close to Jane Street and Highway 401.

Police were called to a residential building at 40 Falstaff Ave., shortly before 8 p.m. Paramedics discovered a 23-year-old man who had been shot in the groin multiple times in a stairwell of the building.

Shortly after paramedics arrived, residents ushered them to the community centre across the street where a 17-year-old boy was found with multiple gunshot wounds to the head.

Both men were then rushed to hospital. The 17-year-old’s injuries are considered serious.

Police determined that both shootings took place at the residential building and 17-year-old ran to the nearby community centre.

A number of people were seen fleeing from the scene of the shooting and police are appealing to those individuals to come forward.

Investigators can be reached at 416−808−1204 or through Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416−222−TIPS (8477).

No arrests have been made in either of the shootings and police said there’s no evidence to suggest that the incidents are connected.
