Toronto police released video of two male suspects fleeing the scene where a Toronto teen was gunned down in North York last weekend.

Investigators said on Saturday at around 11:30 a.m., 17-year-old Caheem ‘Clayshawn’ Ramsuchit was visiting friends at a townhouse on Shoreham Court near Jane Street when he was shot in the torso while standing in the backyard of the home.

“We now know that sometime after 11 a.m. (Ramsuchit) left his home and walked to meet several of his friends,” Det. Sgt. Mike Carbone said.

He said two suspects driving a dark-coloured SUV pulled up to a roundabout near a backyard where Ramsuchit was socializing with some of his friends.

One of the two suspects aimed a firearm at Ramsuchit over a fence nearby and fired several shots. Though the victim was standing with some friends, only he was struck by the gunfire.

Friends rushed the teen to a local hospital but he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The suspects are seen in security camera footage running back to their parked SUV in the rain. They then speed away from the area.

Carbone said the SUV headed south and then west on Shoreham Drive.

Carbone said the suspects appeared to know their way around the area, and headed straight towards where Ramsuchit was standing when they got out of their vehicle.

Both men were wearing dark clothing and hoods over their heads.

An autopsy confirmed Ramsuchit died as a result of a gunshot wound to the torso.

Police said they believe the teen, who was not known to police prior to the shooting, was targeted.

Carbone says police are looking to speak to anyone who had contact with the victim in the week leading up to his death.

He said he hopes the video will allow investigators to get an “untainted perspective” from a witness so that they can identify the suspects and their getaway vehicle.
