A police officer was accidentally shot in the leg, Toronto police confirmed Monday.
Toronto police Const. Tony Vella said that the shooting occurred during a training exercise on the city's west end.
The officer was sent to a local hospital for treatment.
Vella added that the injuries are not considered serious. The officer was shot once and there is an exit wound.
The incident occurred near the new Toronto Police College training facility on Birmingham Street.
