RICHMOND HILL, Ont. -- York Regional Police have made an arrest following a fatal hit and run collision in Richmond Hill.

A 53-year-old man is facing numerous charges after his Mercedes struck and killed a 30-year-old pedestrian on Yonge Street, just south of King Road, early Thursday.

The driver of another vehicle that also collided with the man stopped and called police, but authorities say it's not yet clear how many vehicles struck the man.

A police cruiser responding to the scene also came in contact with the man and the province's Special Investigations Unit has been called in the probe the incident.

The original suspect in the collision, Choo-Beng Quah, surrendered himself to police last night.

He has been charged with failing to stop and failing to stop causing death.

Police have not identified the victim, who was declared dead at the scene.
