Toronto police have identified the victim of an east-end homicide.

The body of 24-year-old George Fawell was discovered beside railroad tracks behind the Jimmie Simpson Community Centre on Queen Street, near Broadview Avenue at about 10:45 a.m. Friday.

The homicide unit said the victim suffered obvious signs of trauma and was found with his throat slashed and his hands tied behind his back.

It is not clear how long the body had been there before it was discovered.

GO Transit temporarily suspended train service between Danforth and Union Stations during the police investigation.

A post-mortem has been scheduled for Saturday.
