Police are searching for a male suspect after a daytime stabbing inside a busy fast-food restaurant in Mississauga Friday afternoon.

It happened inside a joint Tim Hortons/Wendy's location in the Britannia Road and Terry Fox Way area at approximately 12:30 p.m.

Police say a 44-year-old Mississauga man was stabbed multiple times. He was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries. His condition has since been upgraded to non-life threatening.

Police say it's unclear if the victim and suspect were known to each other.

The suspect was last seen wearing a dark black coat and a black hat. He is between 30- and 40-years-old and is described as having brown skin.

Police say he fled the area on foot, and is believed to be armed with an edged weapon.
