Police are looking into the death of a 23-year-old man who passed away shortly after he was left at a Scarborough hospital with gunshot wounds early Saturday morning.

Anthony Spencer was dropped off at Scarborough General Hospital just after 5 a.m. He died a short time later.

Investigators say Spencer was carried into the hospital's emergency department by a group of men and a woman, who fled the scene in two vehicles.

Sources told CTV Toronto reporter Tamara Cherry that Spencer was helped into the hospital by friends then left on the floor of the emergency room.

In an effort to identify the woman and men who dropped Spencer off at the hospital, police have released descriptions of two vehicles.

Police have described the first vehicle as a silver, four-door Nissan while the other is described as an older model, four-door sedan which could be beige or gold.

Toronto Police appealed for those people to contact police.

"We need them to come forward. We need them to be strong and supportive to their deceased friend," said Toronto Police Det. Sgt. Gary Giroux.

Earlier in the day, investigators said they didn't believe Spencer's injuries were self-inflicted and that they were trying to pinpoint a crime scene.

Investigators scoured a park in the Lawrence Avenue East and Kennedy Road area for clues, but could not find evidence of a shooting.
