A 20-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a sex assault that took place in Toronto's Annex neighbourhood over the weekend.

Police say they are still looking for a second man believed to be involved in the alleged incident.

A woman told police she left a bar in the Bloor Street and Spadina Avenue area at around 2:30 a.m. with two men. The group then drove to an apartment in the Dufferin and Bloor Streets area in a Hyundai Elantra.

The woman filed a report saying she had been sexually assaulted before she was driven in a different car to the Dufferin Street and Geary Avenue area. She told police one of the suspects hit her repeatedly during the second drive, which was in a Mazda 3.

Once they arrived at the destination, the woman was removed from the car and left on the side of the road.

The woman tried to get help by flagging down vehicles. Finally, a TTC bus driver stopped to give her assistance.

Investigators say they arrested a suspect on Sunday but are still looking to speak to witnesses to try and identify a second suspect. Authorities say they are reviewing footage from a security camera in the area.

Nicholas Vozgenikov has been charged with sexual assault and assault causing bodily harm.

The charges have not been proven in court.
