Oh, rats.

Toronto Public Health has closed down gourmet grocery store Pusateri's at its Avenue and Lawrence location due to a pest infestation and poor sanitation.

The company says exterminators are going to work around the clock until the store is reinspected and reopened. Both rats and roaches had raided the store.

Pusateri's website says they "scour the globe, working with the freshest ingredients" for its customers, and management blamed that globetrotting for its pest issues.

"This is truly a limited situation that we believe was as a result of a shipment from overseas . . . it was isolated and it's being dealt with as we speak," Frank Luchetta, president of Pusateri's, said in a statement to CTV Toronto.

The closure of the Pusateri's store trended nationally in Canada Thursday night on Twitter.

"What will the 1% eat?" Toronto resident Barry Waite joked on Twitter.
