An autopsy into the death of a 22-year-old Brampton woman has led investigators to believe she was the victim of a homicide, Peel Regional Police said Friday.

Marcieline Newland was found dead around 2 p.m. on Nov. 16 in a home on Crystal Glen Crescent, near Williams Parkway in Brampton.

The post-mortem results revealed that Newland had been killed, police said in a statement, which didn’t specify the cause of death.

"The investigation is now led by the Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau, who have been involved from the outset. They would like to reassure the public there is no indication of any further threat to public safety as this investigation continues," the statement said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Peel Regional Police homicide bureau.
