TORONTO - A prominent member of the Progressive Conservative caucus is calling on party leader Tim Hudak to face calls for a leadership review next month.

Some Tories who were angry after the party lost four of five byelections last week have filed motions to seek a leadership review at their upcoming policy convention in London.

And Conservative MPP Frank Klees, who finished second in the 2009 leadership race, says Hudak and his supporters should not be trying to block the motions.

Klees says rather than suppressing the opinion of the party's grass roots, Hudak should invite a leadership review.

He says if Hudak is afraid to face party members, that doesn't bode well for the next general election.

However, deputy PC Leader Christine Elliott says disgruntled Tories should "calm down" and realize the party made a critical breakthrough in Toronto by winning the Etobicoke-Lakeshore byelection.

Elliott says people also need to remember that none of the five ridings had been Conservative in the first place.

Hudak, who is vacationing this week and unavailable to comment, won over 75 per cent support when the party held it's last leadership review following the loss to the Liberals in the 2011 general election.
