One man is dead after being shot in the middle of a street in Etobicoke early Thursday morning.

Toronto emergency crews said the victim, a man in his mid-20s, suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the head and upper torso on Meadowbank Road, near Burnhamthorpe Road and Highway 427, at around 4 a.m.

Paramedics attempted to revive the victim, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Homicide detectives have been called to the scene to investigate.

The residential road has been closed between Burnhamthorpe and Keane Avenue. Several patrol cars remained at the crime scene Thursday morning and a silver Ford was left parked near the body.

The Meadowbank shooting is one of three instances of gunfire reported overnight.

Shots were also fired on Boultbee Avenue, near Jones Avenue and Gerrard Street East, at about 2 a.m.

No one was injured, but police said bullets were found in the walls of a nearby housing unit.

One person was also shot in the leg on Jane Street, south of Finch Avenue, late Wednesday evening.
