One person is dead after a stabbing at a home in North York late Sunday night.

Police were called to 1 Axsmith Cres., near Don Mills Road and Finch Avenue East, at approximately 8:45 p.m. on Sunday.

A female caller told 911 operators that there were two people fighting inside a home, and that one of them had a knife.

When responders arrived on scene, they found one person without vital signs, suffering from a head injury. The victim was taken to hospital and pronounced dead. Police have not said whether the person was male or female.

Toronto paramedics said two others were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

A 43-year-old suffered head wounds, but was conscious at the time. He or she was taken to hospital, but is in police custody.

The third person was the female caller.

Police are investigating the stabbing, which they said is Toronto's 36th homicide of the year.
