Upscale American department store Nordstrom is eyeing expansion into Canada, targeting locations in Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary and Ottawa, according to reports.

According to The Globe and Mail, the luxurious retailer is aiming at having its Toronto location open in Sherway Gardens.

Nordstrom is prepared to open Canadian locations at Calgary’s Chinook Centre, Vancouver’s Pacific Centre and Ottawa’s Rideau Centre, reports suggest.

Those three locations have recently been vacated by Sears department stores during its recent downsizing.

Nordstrom is only the latest high-end U.S. retailer to take aim north of the border.

Bloomingdales is reportedly in talks with Hudson’s Bay Co. to bring the luxury department store to Canada. The shops could be destined for Toronto, Vancouver and Calgary by the fall.

Target is set to open 125 locations in Canada next spring.

J. Crew has already arrived in Canada, opening its first Canadian store at Toronto's Yorkdale Shopping Centre.

The high-end retailer has plans to open new locations this year at the West Edmonton Mall, Robson St. in Vancouver and Toronto's Eaton Centre, and plans for more than a dozen more are in the works.
