A stretch of the southbound QEW located north of Hamilton reopened at about 2 p.m. on Saturday, following a police investigation.

Ontario Provincial Police said officers had restricted access to the area to investigate the death of a female pedestrian.

All Niagara-bound traffic was diverted from the highway at Eastport Drive in Burlington. The highway was closed at about 7 a.m. on Saturday morning.

Sgt. David Woodford said police are treating the incident as a homicide. A man was arrested but charges have yet not been laid.

The victim has not been identified.
