ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - A woman from Fort Erie, Ont., charged in the death of her two-year-old daughter appeared briefly by video in a St. Catharines, Ont., courtroom today.

Roseanne Whalen, 23, is charged with criminal negligence causing death, accessory after the fact to murder and indignity to human remains in the death of her daughter Marissa.

She appeared by video from the Vanier Centre for Women in Milton.

Her next court appearance is Nov. 3 via video in St. Catharines to set a date for a bail hearing in Superior Court in Welland.

Her daughter was reported missing earlier this month, but police believe she was killed in late July.

The remains of a child were found on Six Nations territory near Brantford, but it could be weeks before DNA tests can confirm an identity.

Rainbow Hill, 28, is charged with second-degree murder while Hill's sister, Amanda Dipota, 30, of Niagara Falls, Ont., is charged with being an accessory after the fact and indignity to human remains.
