TORONTO - The province is reporting infection rates of two more "superbugs" as part of a comprehensive disclosure plan for Ontario hospitals announced in September.

From September through November 2008, there were 61 cases of Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus -- or MRSA -- the equivalent of 0.02 cases for every 1,000 patient days.

There were also 10 cases of Vancomycin-resistant Enterococci -- VRE -- during that period.

An initial report on C. difficile infections was released in late September.

Opposition critics complained the report didn't include deaths from other infection-related bugs.

Data on several other hospital-related infections will follow by the end of April along with progress health-care centres are making in improving staff hand-washing regimens.
