A man is recovering in hospital Thursday after several gunshots were fired into his vehicle while he was driving along a Markham street.

The victim told police he was driving in the Highway 7 and Woodbine Avenue area at around 10 p.m. when he was fired at by someone in another vehicle that had pulled up beside him.

Despite suffering a bullet wound to this shoulder, he managed to drive away from the scene to a local gas station and call 911.

He was rushed to hospital by paramedics and is in stable condition.

York Regional Police say they are speaking with the victim and are trying to determine whether he was targeted in the attack.
