A man and a woman are dead following a fire in a recreational vehicle in an east-end Toronto parking lot.

Police began receiving phone calls from passersby just before 7:30 a.m. Witnesses reported smoke and fire coming from the RV parked behind an industrial strip mall at 2941 Eglinton Ave. E., near McCowan Road.

The bodies of a 55-year-old man and a woman believed to be about 40 years old were found in the back of the older-style Winnebago.

Faulty electrical cords may have started the blaze, but officials have not yet confirmed the cause.

The identities and the hometowns of the deceased have not yet been released.

A coroner has been called and officials from the Ontario fire marshal's office continue to investigate.

Foul play is not suspected.
