Man who allegedly assaulted, and stole and damaged victim’s property at Broadview Station charged

A suspect who allegedly assaulted a victim, and stole and damaged their personal property earlier this month in the city’s east end is in police custody.

Toronto police said on Dec. 4 TTC Special Constables responded to a call for an assault near Danforth and Broadview avenues.

They said that a suspect assaulted a victim in Broadview Station then allegedly stole and damaged their personal property.

The suspect fled prior to police arriving on scene.

On Saturday, Gerrard Purcell, 43, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with one count each of assault and mischief under $5,000, and two counts of fail to comply with probation order. He is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 15.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with further information is asked to contact police at 416-808-5500 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
