A man is wanted for trying to disarm two Toronto police officers as they attempted to arrest him Sunday night.
Police say the officers attempted to arrest the man at 375 Bleecker Street, in the city’s Cabbagetown neighbourhood.
The man proceeded to throw a bicycle at the officers on scene and then tried to disarm both of them as the three men got into a violent struggle.
The suspect then managed to escape.
Both officers were injured, requiring hospital assistance. One of the officers has been released while the other remains in hospital under observation.
An arrest warrant has been obtained for 29-year-old Brian Christopher Hutchings. The suspect is described as a white male, who is about five-foot-nine and weighs around 180 pounds, with short brown hair and green eyes.
The charges against him are:
- Two counts of assaulting a peace officer
- Two counts of assault with intent to resist arrest
- Two counts of disarming a peace officer
- Escape from lawful custody
- Possession of marijuana
