Woman found deceased in Ajax residential unit, man taken into custody: police
A man has been taken into custody after police found a deceased woman in an Ajax building Saturday night.
On X, formally known as Twitter, Police say that officers arrived on scene to a residential address in the Shoal Point Road and Bayly Street East area in Ajax.
There, at approximately 11:05 p.m., a female was found deceased with serious injuries and a 35-year-old man on scene was taken into custody. Limited information has been releaed by police at this time, however, they told CP24 that the investigation is being treated as a homicide.
Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Durham Regional Police's Duty Inspector Rob Williamson said "it's crucial to point out here that the victim and the male are known to each other," adding that more information about the victim and the male's idenity will follow their investigation.
