BEAVERTON, Ont. - A Toronto man suffered severe spinal injuries after diving into shallow water in eastern Ontario over the weekend.
Durham regional police say the 20-year-old dived off a dock at a residence in Beaverton near Lake Simcoe on Sunday afternoon.
Investigators believe the water was only about a metre deep and the man sustained the injuries after hitting his head on the bottom of the body of water.
They say alcohol may have been a factor.
The man's identity has not been released.
He was airlifted to a Toronto-area trauma hospital for treatment.
