BARRIE, Ont. - A brawl outside a Barrie restaurant has separated a man from a piece of his ear and resulted in assault charges for two other men.

Police say officers and paramedics responded early Sunday to a report of an injured man outside the downtown eatery.

Officers were told that the victim had a section of his ear bitten off and that it had been recovered and given to paramedics.

The 22-year-old victim provided descriptions of his assailants and investigators say two men were located and arrested.

Witnesses told police that some of them suffered facial lacerations after the suspects lashed out at them when they tried to intervene.

The victim was transported to St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto, but there's no word if doctors were able to reattach the piece of his ear.
