One person is dead after a single-vehicle crash on the westbound off-ramp of Highway 401 at Keele Street early Wednesday morning.
Ontario Provincial Police said one person was travelling in a black BMW sedan that left the roadway for unknown reasons, shortly after 2 a.m.
The car collided with a piece of construction equipment on a grass median.
The driver, a 28-year-old man from Toronto, had to be removed from the vehicle by first responders. He was transported to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The man's name is being withheld until next of kin are notified.
The ramp at Keele was closed for an investigation, but has since reopened at 5:45 a.m. Police ask any witnesses of the collision, or anyone with more information to call the investigating officer at 416-235-4981.
