HAMILTON, Ont. - A Whitby, Ont., man faces charges in connection with a Hamilton police investigation into an alleged child sexual assault nearly 40 years ago.

Police say their investigation began with a report that a boy was allegedly sexually assaulted in Hamilton between June 1976 to December 1977.

They say there may be more alleged victims.

On Monday they arrested and charged 69-year-old John Leek in connection with the alleged incidents.

Police say he worked for both Hamilton and Peel District School Boards and was a truancy counsellor at the time of the alleged offences.

Leek faces charges of indecent assault on a male and gross indecency.
