A male suspect is being sought after police say he allegedly hid in the women's washroom at a McDonald's restaurant and attempted to videotape a woman in a stall.

In a statement released Thursday, police say a 50-year-old woman was in the restroom at an Oshawa McDonald's restaurant when she noticed a cellphone being pointed up at her from the adjacent stall. The incident happened just before noon Tuesday in the Oshawa Centre, located in the Stevenson Road North and King Street West area.

Police say the women quickly got dressed after noticing the phone and exited the stall to confront the man, but he had already fled the area.

He is described as white and has dark, short hair. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, a grey shirt, blue jeans and brown shoes. Police say he was also carrying a backpack at the time, and his cellphone was in a brown leather case.
