Police have released surveillance camera images of two suspects in a violent street robbery in the city’s downtown core.

According to police, a 53-year-old man was standing on the sidewalk near Yonge and Dundas streets at around 7:30 p.m. on June 1 when he was approached by a man and a woman.

At that point, police allege that the man attacked the victim, choking him for several minutes.

While the victim was being choked, police say the woman robbed him.

The two suspects then fled the scene northbound along Yonge Street.

The victim suffered facial injuries in the attack and was taken to hospital for treatment.

The male suspect is described as white and wearing blue jeans a brown long-sleeved shirt and a brown poor-boy hat.

The female suspect is described as having long, straight black hair and wearing blue jeans and a red long-sleeved shirt. She is seen smoking in the surveillance camera images.
