VAUGHAN, Ont. -- A man has been charged after police say he assaulted a driver with a screwdriver during a road-rage-fuelled argument north of Toronto.

Provincial police say they were called to Highway 400 (at Langstaff Road) in Vaughan around 7 p.m. Thursday night.

They say a Mercedes Benz SUV and a Dodge Caravan were travelling erratically on the highway when both drivers pulled over and got out of their vehicles.

OPP say a fight broke out and the driver of the Dodge attacked his opponent with a screwdriver before fleeing the scene.

Paramedics treated the other driver on site.

Amrik Singh, 50, of Brampton, Ont., has been charged with assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

He is due in court on Oct. 2.
