Man, 53, charged in connection with downtown Hamilton stabbing
Hamilton police have arrested a 53-year-old man in connection with a stabbing that sent a man to hospital on Thursday evening.
Police said they responded to a call shortly after 7 p.m., near 135 Mary Street in downtown Hamilton, where they found the victim with a stab wound to the chest.
The victim was then taken to hospital where a live-saving surgery was performed, police said in a news release issued Saturday. However, they added the victim remains in critical condition.
The accused was arrested at the scene of the incident and has been charged with aggravated assault, police said. Police did not identify the suspect, but said he is a Hamilton resident.
The circumstances of the incident are still under investigation.
