Four golfers were injured when lightning struck a golf course north of Stouffville, Ont., on Tuesday afternoon.
Emergency crews responded to calls that a group of golfers had been injured at Bethesda Grange Golf Course, located at 12808 Warden Ave., shortly before noon.
York Regional Police said that the group of men were injured by lightning.
A 51-year-old man from Thornhill, a 53-year-old man from Toronto, a 56-year-old man also from Toronto and a 60-year-old man from Richmond Hill were transported to hospital.
Three of the injured are stable while the 60-year-old man remains in critical condition, police said. All four are still in hospital.
In a statement issued Tuesday afternoon, police said they would like to commend the individuals who provided medical aid and comfort to the men before EMS arrived.
Earlier in the day, Environment Canada had issued a severe thunderstorm watch for parts of southern Ontario, including the area where the group was injured.
