BRAMPTON, Ont. - The trial of the last three people accused in the Toronto 18 terror plot is set to get underway Monday in a Brampton, Ont., courtroom.

Fahim Ahmad, Asad Ansari and Steven Chand are all charged with participating in a terrorist group.

Ahmad is also charged with instructing people to carry out activities for a terrorist group and a weapons offence.

Chand also faces a charge of committing fraud over $5,000 for the benefit of a terrorist group.

Ahmad, Ansari and Chand were among 18 people arrested in June 2006 and charged with various terrorism offences.

Since that time seven people had their charges dropped or stayed, two people were convicted after trials and six people pleaded guilty.

The trial marks the last of the court proceedings -- aside from appeals -- in the landmark homegrown terror case that began nearly four years ago.

Jury selection for the case began on March 22 and by the end of last week the pool of 1,168 potential jurors was whittled down to 12 people plus two alternates.

The Crown is expected to deliver its opening statement Monday.
