It didn't take long for Toronto to record its first homicide of 2012.
A young man has been shot to death in Scarborough in an incident police are calling the city's first murder of the year.
The shooting occurred just after 4:30 a.m. on Hupfield Trail, blocks away from the Malvern Town Centre at Finch Avenue East and Neilson Road.
Jamal Franklin, 20, was pronounced dead on scene.
Witnesses told police that they saw suspects running from the scene shortly after gunfire rang out.
No arrests have been made and police have yet to identify a motive.
