GUELPH, Ont. - A tentative agreement has been reached to prevent Guelph Transit from shutting down today.
A lockout of transit employees had been set to begin at midnight, but the city says the agreement with the Amalgamated Transit Union will keep the buses rolling as usual.
The City of Guelph and the Amalgamated Transit Union issued a joint statement saying the deal was reached after a day-long meeting with a provincially-appointed conciliator in attendance.
The statement says details of the accord will be released upon ratification by both parties.
No date for ratification vote was released.
