BUFFALO, N.Y. - A Canadian truck driver has been sentenced to three years in federal prison for smuggling 112 kilograms of marijuana into the United States in the cab of his truck.

Stipan Krak of Grimsby, Ont., was convicted in September of importation of a controlled substance.

Federal prosecutors in Buffalo say the 51-year-old driver brought six hockey duffel bags filled with hydroponic marijuana across the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge on March 20, 2007.

Authorities say the drugs had a street value of about $938,000.
